Jessica Poundstone Rugs!!! In Collaboration With Work In Progress, a Denvir Enterprises Company and Nomadory!

I am so flipping excited to share that after years of people telling me I should make rugs with my designs I've done it!

Me in LA seeing the rugs in person for the first time! This one is the Wild Cherry colorway!

Me in LA seeing the rugs in person for the first time! This one is the Wild Cherry colorway!

I was tapped by Emma Holland Denvir & Kevin Lee of the (womxn/queer-owned!) brand Work In Progress LA (a sister company to Denvir Enterprises) to create designs in five colorways.

The rugs are handmade by artisans in India who work with (another womxn-owned company!) Nomadory, which is committed to sustainable practices and a completely transparent supply chain.

A Limited Edition Print!

I thought I'd dip a toe into the world of limited edition prints, starting off with this one, Color Space 31. It's available now at Saatchi Art, or you can order it directly from me

There's sometimes a moment when I'm making these pictures that everything just comes together and I get a sort of emotional "ping" - part deja vu, part thrill - and then I know it's done. That happened with this one for sure.

Here is a fun mockup of a space with this print. (I'd love to go have a coffee there.)

Interior Design Rules of Thumb You Should Stick By

I was asked by the editors at Redfin’s blog to contribute to an article about interior design, sharing why I believe art is so important in a space. Here’s what I had to say…

“Without art, your home will always feel like something’s missing! Artwork is also a chance to add something you truly, deeply love to your space. It feels like such a missed opportunity when I see artwork from a big box store in someone’s home: resist the urge, and take your time finding the right thing for your space.

Imagine Lisa Congdon’s living room without art….shudder! ;) My Power Color pieces are up there on the right.

If you’re just getting started with art and you’re a bit intimidated, begin by paying close attention to work that resonates with you. Are you attracted to certain colors? Do you prefer figurative or abstract work? Do the pieces you love feel mysterious and moody or bright and joyful?

Which is your fave: moody & mysterious, like Color Space 3, or…

Connecting directly with independent artists through Instagram can be super exciting, creating an even more special connection with the artwork in your space.“

Jessica Poundstone For Designlovefest x Casetify!

Big news: the designlovefest X Casetify 2021 collection is out, and I am in it!!!

For many years now, Bri Emery, the beautiful genius behind designlovefest, has curated a collection for Casetify; I was thrilled and honored to have landed on her radar, and gotten to partner with her in creating tech accessories featuring my artwork that I TRULY LOVE.

Designs from my Color Space, Color Ideas and Color Cloud collections are now on allllll kinds of tech accessories — from phones to watchbands to iPod cases, and more!

Thank you SO MUCH to Bri for reaching out, and for creating these gorgeous photos with Kat Borchart & Natalie Shriver and for making such a happy-times-good-vibes collection.

New Work: Color Ideas: Thinking About a Really Fun Day

To paraphrase Audre Lorde, fun and the joy that comes along with it can be “fuel for change.” Let’s give ourselves permission to make fun, have fun — and get energized by fun. Here’s hoping this new piece “Color Ideas: Thinking About a Really Fun Day” can help remind us to go for it!

In the Color Ideas Series I’m doing one of my favorite things: letting my thoughts turn into color relationships and patterns that serve to remind me (and maybe you too!) of an idea that’s worth remembering.

"This Dress Makes Me Feel Like Different Parts of Myself Can Come Out To Play"

I cannot tell you how much it meant to me to get this note from Shannon!

As a person who wore all black for 20+ years, and who is just now starting to branch out, I know exactly what she means and I absolutely love that she got to experience new aspects of herself by taking a chance on a dress I made!!!

Color_Cloud_16:_You_Never_Know-Jessica-Poundstone.JPG

This collection features Color Cloud 16: You Never Know. The original artwork is about the idea that anything could happen...but in a good way : ) It's about keeping the inner flame of curiosity, hope and openness to growth and change alive and well.

My Color Cloud collection is an exploration of the visceral experience of color - I’m always pursuing that feeling of being submerged and surrounded by the lush, comforting, energizing vibe color can create. And now you can wrap that vibe all around you!

Color Curiosity Activity Sheets = A Fun Color Serendipity Experience!

I love putting unlikely colors together, and I love serendipity, so I’ve combined the two to bring us downloadable Color Curiosity Activity Sheets!

Here’s how they work: choose nine random colors (you could use ANYTHING to color - markers, nail polish, crayons, pastels or a combo of all of the above!) and then fill in the sheet (choose from Squares or Squiggles) from top to bottom to deliberately avoid choosing where any color will go.

And then just see what happens! Stay curious, have some fun, find some new favorite color combos. And share the results - I’d love to see them!!! Post to Instagram and tag me and/or hashtag #colormecurious!

Here’s hoping these bring a bit of fun, joy, beauty and play to your literal and metaphorical/metaphysical space!

Lisa Congdon's Living Room Features Her Adorable Puppy Milkshake & Two of My Power Color Prints

Portland artist/activist/author/legend Lisa Congdon got in touch last summer to say that she was trying to choose a couple of pieces from my Power Color series for her living room (!!!). I just happened to have test prints of all of the pieces in the series on hand, and offered to let her peruse them. She agreed that would help, so I dropped them off at her house (turns out we were living just about 5 minutes apart before we moved from Buckman to Creston-Kenilworth in August!)

A few weeks later, voila! Power Color 2: Your Presence is Required in the Blush to Crimson Colorway (top right) and Power Color 1: Love is Real in the Ivory to Blue Colorway (below right) were hanging in her living room!

This photo also features Milkshake, the latest addition to her family and if you’re not already following all of the adorable antics, you need to get over to Milkshke’’s Insta for a mental health boost.

I gotta share this bonus pic too, because this dog and this sweater (from Bauhound) are TOO MUCH CUTENESS TO HANDLE.
