“Tama the Japanese Dog” by Pierre Auguste Renoir - Poster
In 1873, French banker and art collector Henri Cernuschi went to Japan and brought back a Japanese spaniel named Tama (which means “jewel” in Japanese). He then commissioned his friend Pierre-Auguste Renoir to paint a portrait, and now we have this lush, impressionist image of a very sweet pup.
About the Poster Design
After researching and writing the book "Museum of Dogs," I realized there are so many gorgeous pups that deserve a place in our hearts and on our walls! I've created these posters to give each piece of dog art a fresh, modern vibe.
